The brief: Design and build a trailer to carry five bikes and equipment, to be towed by a cyclist.
The solution: This project came through a referral from one of Lowe & Hennessy’s suppliers, who knew of their design skills and quality of manufacturing.
An initiative between the Motor Accident Commission and Bike SA, was to educate CBD workers on road safety for cyclists. To achieve this, they would need to be able to transport five bikes, helmets and other equipment around the Adelaide CBD. With parking difficulties to park outside specific offices, a car was not an option, but the weight and size of carrying five bikes meant that there was no readily available solution.
Lowe & Hennessy were able to conceive the idea, draw the CAD design and test the prototype to result in a pedal powered trailer that maneuvers easily and meets all Australian Design Rules.
